About CJ Wilkes Photography

Capturing Your Dance In The Rain is such a thrill and joy to me. Being able to look back on those special times through beautiful artistic imagery makes it a worthwhile challenge.
Learning to Dance in the Rain has been very easy for me. I am drawn to Water & Life! The exciting part for me is to teach you to enjoy your moment in the dance as I capture it from behind my camera.
Looking forward to Capturing Your Dance In The Rain

Bridal Session ~ Mukilteo, Washington

Sunday, July 24th, 2011

Part of why I love what I do is that there are so many special moments in life that are beautiful that need capturing and documentation.  One of these special times that is a thrill is that of a Bride in her moment.  Her time to be a princess.  Each wedding is done differently and that can be because of many factors.  Sometimes it is because of a religion like in this case.  In the LDS religion the ceremony that is done in their temple is not able to be photographed or video’d.  It is a sacred event.  For this reason the bridal images are often done separately, almost an event in and of itself.  Journaling a special time in that brides life so she can carry with her that feeling of beauty for always.   Bridal images are not just an LDS thing.  This type of session is growing more and more popular – which is super for me because I LOVE to shoot this very type of session.

Svetlana came to me from Hawaii to have her bridal shots taken in the Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo that she will be holding her reception in in January.  Before doing her session she went to a friend of mine’s salon, Absolut Hair (in Everett, WA)  to have her hair done.   After that she then drove to have her makeup done by Sheila Birashk.  I have had the pleasure of working on models that have had their makeup done by Sheila since 2009.  She does amazing.  She can go dramatic or create a look that is as natural as if you had no makeup on at all.  So if you want a hairdresser or makeup artist for any reason, feel free to call me and ask about these that I have mentioned because they are worth every penny!  Thank you Jessee and Sheila!

Once Svetlana was worked over real good she joined me and my assistant Kaitlyn at the community center where we went right to work.  She was FANTASTIC.  It was as if she had always been behind a camera.   Well, I will not keep you any longer – her is Svetlana.

People like Svetlana make my job the best job ever.  She is sweet, kind, and the type of person you can’t help smiling when you are around because she is just good people!  Thank you for a wonderful time and looking forward to being there to shoot your wedding come January hun!

Engagement with A&S

Monday, July 18th, 2011

I have to admit I LOVE engagement shoots!!!  I love seeing the interaction between a couple looking forward to their new lives together!  This darling couple come from completely different backgrounds and locations.  Thanks to technology they found each other and as you can see – when together they make a great couple who clearly have eyes for just each other.  Aaron and Svetlana chose to have their moments captured at the Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo and Green Lake.   Both locations have sentimental meaning to them.  The community Center is the place they are having their reception held at.  It is new, modern, sheek – simply cool with a beautiful view.  Green Lake was the place that Aaron proposed to Svetlana and she said YES!  So here I am with the privilege of showing you what a super sweet couple this is and how much fun we had together!!!

I love water shots – I swear my element is water.  Anyhow, one of the things that happen with water is that most the time I end up having to get into the water (which of coarse I love!).  Because of my usually ending up in the water I NEVER wear my phone.  I ALWAYS have it in my camera bags.  For some crazy reason I put my phone in my pocket this time.  LOL – can you guess what happened?  You are right!  I hopped into the lake waist deep with my iphone in my pocket.  Thank goodness I have a really smart husband who was able to save it after it had been drowned.  Bwahahahaha.  Lesson learned for me.  On a photo shoot in the future I am NOT to wear my phone!!!  We all had a really good laugh.  Now tell me if you can tell when in this portion of the shoot I immersed myself into the lake.

The bridal images are gorgeous but will be coming at another time.  Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.  Special thanks to my Assistant Kaitlyn!!!  I am grateful for all the work she puts into the shoot with me.  Again – thank you to Aaron and Svetlana for letting us capture this special time in their lives!
