About CJ Wilkes Photography

Capturing Your Dance In The Rain is such a thrill and joy to me. Being able to look back on those special times through beautiful artistic imagery makes it a worthwhile challenge.
Learning to Dance in the Rain has been very easy for me. I am drawn to Water & Life! The exciting part for me is to teach you to enjoy your moment in the dance as I capture it from behind my camera.
Looking forward to Capturing Your Dance In The Rain

Another Year ~ Children

Friday, April 15th, 2011

Each year children get their pictures at school.  Why do we do this?  Well, it marks a mile marker in life.  The progress is documented.  I love to see the images and the faces, but feel that time and effort should be made so that the images are not just ones placed in a book and used for blackmail.  Why not have images that the children would be proud of and that you would want to have displayed in your home.  These are special moments in their lives – ones they should be able to cherish.

This sweet family invited me to take their pictures in their back yard.  It was great and they were adorable.

There is nothing cuter than a little child who is proud of having lost their teeth.  LOL  Thank you for this special moment that I had the chance to share with your family D&J!

Boys and Girls

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Time goes quickly and the little ones grow.  Pretty soon they are not just babies, but boys and girls.  They run and play and just live life to its fullest.  When I started out it happened because I had some beautiful children that I wanted to capture in their youth.  I wanted to document those moments in life that a memory cannot always hold still forever.  It was a matter of turning these into everlasting moments.

When I go with my family anywhere I rarely go without my camera.  If I am without it I bite myself for missing this or that.  Well, I could not and would not this time.  Not only that – I had an excuse for wanting to play with a new lens.   Here are just a few to share with you, because although I have fantastic clients – these little ones are the reason I have become the photographer I am today.

My five consist of Miriam, twins ~ Jared and Nathanya, Samuel, and Edmond

We attempt to make things fair so that they all feel the equal love we have for them.  I extend that into my photography as well.  One thing I have started is a wall of photographic art of my kids.  I have made larger (16×24) metal prints that they can take with them once they have grown and moved out.  At the moment I have been working on getting Jared’s.  Here are some of the images I am trying to choose from:

Then just because I like a fun silhouette

Nathanya is such a trouper and was begging for pictures.  I of coarse could not resist, but had to hurry since she has NO body fat and it was windy + cold out.  I am so glad because they turned out adorable!

Then Miriam.  She is always photogenic.  However, for whatever reason I always get closeups of her and rarely a full body.  I was ecstatic that it worked out this time!

I have shared Samuel and Edmond’s.  Will have more of them in the future.  Meanwhile, Thanks for allowing me this time to share my babies.  :)

2 year old Lifestyle

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

Some sessions are just fun fun fun, like with a 2 year old.  This little man kept us moving and it brings smiles to my face just to see the images from the session.

There really is nothing like viewing the life of a 2 year old at his level.  Times to look back on – what cherished moments!

2nd Day of Christmas!!

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

Day 2 of the 12 Days of Christmas :)  Are you ready?  Here comes…

Oh wait – I thought I would take a moment to explain something that several of you have asked.  Do I travel?  YES.  I travel all over the world.  Will I travel for a photo shoot?  YES.  You can contact me directly to get a quote on traveling fees.  Do I add obnoxious prices to travel?  NO!  I am a cheapO when it comes to traveling.  That is good for my clients.  I travel the cheapest airfare, I stay in comfortable but inexpensive locations, and I pass those prices on directly to my clients.  I have even had my clients book it for me at times so they can see that that is the price they are paying and not some random number I am throwing out there.

So to answer the question of if I travel and will it be cost effective to my clients?  YES – most emphatically YES.  :)  For anyone who knows me – I am a mom of 5 adorable children (They are adorable because they are MINE!!!) but I also cherish those times I can go and replenish myself with me time… and that is done by doing what I love best – Taking pictures of YOU!!!

Are you ready to see today’s deal?  Good because I am the worse at keeping secrets – I am more impatient than the ones who are waiting to open the gift.  I just wish I had a camera on your end to see your face – that is the best part of opening a present or getting a surprise; seeing the look on the receivers face.

Fall and My Youngest Boys

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

Yup – you read it right.  My youngest boys.  I am the mom of 5 children —> Who are beautiful to me!!!  I got more heavily involved in photography because of my family.  I love love love documenting every bit of their lives through photography.  My babies at every age.  So I saw the beautiful fall leaves and had these sweater coats that had belonged to my husband and his siblings growing up.  I also crocheted some toques (beenies) for my children and thought it is a perfect time for a themed shoot with my children.  Here are a few of my favorites that I have edited so far.  Enjoy!

Samuel – 4 and Edmond – 2

I love the innocence of childhood.  Watching them play in the leaves was a hoot!!!  So much so that I convinced my friend to get her kids ready for a shoot the next day as well.  Even better – the boys rested so well after the hard play giving mom some time to edit these pictures for all of us to coo over.  Ok – that is the mommy in me coming out.  I will coo while you can enjoy.  Happy Fall  everyone!
